Claudia and Reiner were born and educated in Germany. They have lived in New Zealand for almost 25 years.

"We arrived in New Zealand in 1982, our third stop on our big OE. Next should have been Australia. We never made it, as the magic of New Zealand made us want to stay.......

Both are trained Opticians and have operated their own optometry practice for the past 18 years on the North Island before moving to Nelson, New Zealand's sunniest area, on the top of the South Island.

After leaving the optical businesses behind in 2005, they are now enjoying a much quieter life and the company of their guests.

."Kater" however, is the real boss of the household and regularly takes liberties with guests!
