Richmond is located just 15 minutes south of Nelson City on the main State Highway 6 from Christchurch. Our central location in the Nelson / Tasman region makes Kershaw House the perfect base to explore the region as most major points of interest are within easy reach in a day. Water Taxis departing from Kaiteriteri for daytrips to the Abel Tasman National Park are only a short 40 minute drive away. In the other direction, Nelson City with its charming restaurants and local art and craft market is a convenient 15 minute drive. Our closest local beach is Rabbit Island and can be reached in 10 minutes.

By car from Christchurch / West Coast
Travelling north along SH6 will bring you straight into Richmond. As you enter the town boundary the speed limit reduces to 50 km/h. Shortly thereafter you will approach a large roundabout which shows a sign post to Motueka (turning left). At this roundabout turn right into Bateup Road. Carry on straight ahead until you come to a roundabout (approximately 500 metres). Turn left into Wensley Road. Carry on up Wensley Road, you will travel over a small rise at the foot of the hill, and as you start descending you will see Kershaw House on the left behind the long green hedge. We are at number 10. Parking spaces are provided on the property.
By car from Picton (Inter-island ferry from Wellington) and Blenheim
As you come into Nelson follow the signs to Richmond via Tahunanui. You will be driving along State Highway 6 direction Motueka, Westport, Collingwood which runs along the edge of the Waimea Estuary. When you get to the roundabout towards the end of the estuary follow the signs to Richmond, turning left and then immediately right at the two roundabouts. Drive straight over the next roundabout (fruit and vegetable market on the right). You are now on Salisbury Road. Carry on straight ahead until you reach the roundabout at the BP station. Drive straight through the roundabout and follow the road around to the right until you come to the next roundabout. Turn left into Wensley Road. Kershaw House is at number 10 on the right-hand side of the road behind the big hedge about 20 metres from the roundabout.
By Air Kershaw House is just a ten minute drive from Nelson Airport. Let us know your flight details and arrival time and we will pick you up at the airport. If driving, as you leave Nelson Airport, turn right at the first two roundabouts. Travel straight through the third roundabout, and right at the fourth. You are now on State Highway 6 Whakatu Drive fast road (speed limit 100kmh) that heads straight to Richmond. Turn left at the first roundabout and then immediately right at the second. Drive straight over the next roundabout (fruit and vegetable market on the right). You are now on Salisbury Road. Carry on straight ahead until you reach the roundabout at the BP station. Drive straight through the roundabout and follow the road around to the right until you come to the next roundabout. Turn left into Wensley Road.
